This Gorgeous Sea-facing Apartment Is A Luxury Cruise Suite Anchored On Land
Waking up to gorgeous views of the sea is a luxury many would love to enjoy. On an island like Singapore, the opportunity is plentiful — the only difference is how you choose to enhance that view. For the owner of this home, they wanted to feel as though they were on a permanent luxury cruise, viewing the ocean from their very own royal suite class.
A Blue Cube Design (ABCD) had the chance to take on this project, turning this studio apartment into an anchored luxury cruise suite.
As with any studio apartment, making use of every square foot is essential. ABCD’s designer customised a side table for the kitchen area that was as multifunctional as it was beautiful. “We were able to fit a microwave oven, and additional kitchen appliances such as a kettle and Thermomix. The homeowners could even sit there comfortably for a meal.”
To maximise the space, the designer also suggested using a queen-size Murphy bed to ensure that no comfort is lost. In this apartment, ABCD proves that the Murphy bed can be given an elegant touch with the right detachable headboard and a luxurious marble feature wall. “We took great care to choose a marble feature that isn’t over-grained and imported the ceiling’s rose gold trimming to ensure that the shades matched each other,” explained the designer.
The rest of the home took on a colour palette reminiscent of what you’d find in a five-star hotel suite — muted and light, but with accents of quality materials such as marble and metallic fittings.
One might think that a gamer’s presence would not be able to match such an elegant interior, but ABCD’s designer was able to achieve that too. The owners, explained the designer, are avid gamers with multiple console systems. “We customised a vertical glass cabinet specially for the consoles so that it was infrared-penetrable. We also tinted the glasses so the cabinet could match the interior theme.”
However, the owner’s favourite feature of the home has to be the mirrored shoe cabinet in the foyer. Not only does it look extravagant, but the mirror also provides an optical illusion of a larger space. As far as first impressions go, guests would certainly be impressed upon stepping into the apartment.
Of course, the interior design would be for naught if it blocked out the gorgeous sea views that the apartment was known for. It was, in fact, the designer’s favourite part of this residence. “Although it wasn’t part of my design, but Mother Earth’s natural views plays an important part in the interior design too. We wanted to ensure that every sitting furniture within the apartment is located in a spot that faces the ocean,” explained the designer. This way, ‘Vitamin Sea’ can be brought into the home, revitalising its owners and guests.
For an even more unobstructed view of the sea, you must head outdoors to the balcony. In fact, when working on the residence, the artisans preferred to be closer to the balcony. So beautiful was the view, that even the artisans wished they could work on this project longer, barring the deadline.
